SPATIAL
SURFACE
Spatial design in interior design is the art of orchestrating space, considering flow, function, and visual appeal to craft harmonious environments. It involves manipulating dimensions, proportions, and layout.
Surface design in interior design focuses on the aesthetic enhancement of various surfaces like walls, floors, and ceilings through textures, patterns, and materials. It's about selecting and applying finishes, wallpapers, paints, and textures to create visually captivating and tactilely engaging spaces.
STYLING
Styling in interior design is the art of adding finishing touches and decorative elements that infuse personality and character into a space. It involves the careful selection and placement of accessories, artwork, and furnishings to elevate the overall aesthetic and create a cohesive, inviting environment.
Spatial Design
Ben Nicholson inspired show home
This was part of a project I had created in first year of my BA Hons Interior Design Decoration degree. The brief was to create a show home floor plan inspired by an artist. Out of the list of artists to choose from, I had chosen Ben Nicholson. I felt particularly inspired by his modernist movement and cubism style sculptures created with a minimalist colour palette and textures.

Charles Rennie Mackintosh inspired show home
This was the second part of the same show home project I had created in first year. The brief was to create a show home floor plan inspired by an architect. Out of the list of architects to choose from, I picked Rennie Mackintosh. I particularly like the Art Deco, rich style of interior design which is one of my main reasons for choosing him to study. The bold geometric patterns and colour palette influenced my design for the floor plan.
John Lewis of Hungerford Project
This was our first project where we were given a client brief creating a project for John Lewis of Hungerford. Out of the options I chose to create this floor plan in a Scandinavian style with blue accent colours throughout. It was an open plan floor where we had to design a kitchen, dining area and living space.
